Art is considered to be an essential tool for representation and expression of one’s society and culture. In my opinion, in schools, art should definitely be included in the curriculum as it develops creativity and presents as chance for children to express thoughts and ideas, but it should not come at the expense of other subjects.
Firstly, art acts as an opportunity for students to unleash their thoughts and ideas in a creative way, either in form of a painting, sculpture, or drawing. It provides students with necessary means by which they can express their imagination into reality. Secondly, students can utilize art to represent their society and culture in way that they portray it. For example, during the time of Rajasthani kings, children in their kingdom were taught art so that express their view of the culture and heritage. Due to which, today, we have numerous perspectives of society and culture of that time.
Even with all these advantages, art should not taught by undermining other important subjects like science and maths. In the rapidly evolving world, a balance is necessary between studying various subjects so that a student does not lack behind other, by focusing on only one element.
In conclusion, art is an important aspect in the life of an individual which can be use utilised to express one’s society and culture. Children should be oriented to art at an early age so that they use to it freely express themselves, but it should be done by solely focusing on it.
