Some individuals are of the opinion that voluntary work should be done by every university students in order to help the local community. Personally, I partly agree with this suggestion based on some major reasons that are explained further in this essay.
On the one hand, there are several benefits for college students to be a volunteer. Firstly, they could enrich their real-life experience which may not learn at university. Furthermore, local community often lack of volunteers to help them to organize their events. This is because doing these works usually do not earn any money, thus few people interested in that although these events are extremely useful, meaningful for community. Therefore, university students is appropriate to do that because most students only want to enhance their skills so they usually work effectively without earning money. Finally, although voluntary works may not have a value of money, but it is often important when the students apply to the companies in the future. For example, in Vietnam, there is a voluntary group, namely ” Sai Gon Xanh”, they usually clean the river in Ho Chi Minh city. They do not earn any money but they can learn a new things such as environment, survive skill, which may be useful in their life.
On the other hands, although voluntary works are very useful for university students but it may not appropriate for every university students. This is due to the fact that students today need to spend most their time at school and they also need to go to the extra class or company where they work to earn money. Because nowadays, university students not only need to study but they also need to earn money to pay for their life, it leads to the fact that they may not have enough time to do voluntary works. Moreover, voluntary works may also impact negatively on studying because they might distract when studying at school or they focus on doing voluntary works but forgetting to study.
In conclusion, despite the value of voluntary works, I still believe that it is not approriate for all university student, thus they need to balance between being volunteer and student.
