Band 7+: Children in rural areas are being left behind in their academic development. Why is this the case? What solutions can you suggest?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Numerous studies shows that education development of children in remote areas is currently not up to standard and frequently being neglected. This prove the disparity of academic quality of education facilities in the capital and in the outskirts of the country. This essay will provide several possible causes and propose solutions to increase the academic development of adolescents living in rural areas.

The first major cause of insufficient education improvement in rural areas is due to the lack of learning infrastructures. For example, there are very few schools and academic facilities available in rural area, which make students need to walk kilometers away to go to school everyday. The classes are also sometimes built with woods and leaves as the roof, rather than adequate concrete. In addition, teachers who are serving in the rural schools are often not obtaining adequate compensation, making the number of school personnel are decreasing day by day as they tend to find another occupation.

Therefore, the first proposed solution to address this issue is the government should increase the allocated annual budget to establish, enhance and maintain learning infrastructures in rural area. The main focus is to build education centers near the populated residential area, as well as providing auxiliary facilities such as library and lab. Classrooms should be built with steady and strong materials, where students can be protected from bad weathers. The authorities should monitor these facilities closely since they are essential to increase the academic development of adolescents in remote areas.

Another solution that must be done is to promote teachers welfare by providing fair compensations. Human resources coming from bigger city are also needed to ensure the effectiveness of technology and education transfer. Regular trainings and opportunities for further education must be available for teachers in rural areas where it will induce continues improvement and sustainability to the local society.

In summary, the decline in education quality in rural areas is caused by multidimensional factors. The lack of learning facilities as well as teachers quantity and quality have resulted in undeveloped children education. Hence, to address this case, the proposed solutions are to allocate more extensive budget focusing on the establishment of adequate learning facilities, as well as supporting teachers welfare by providing the fair compensation and opportunity to step up for further education. It is imperative that these solutions must be implemented to ensure a better future for generations in rural areas.
