Whether pupils should be studying at school up until they become legal adults is a topic of considerable debate. Some might argue, that it’s mandatory for minors to graduate high school, while others believe that students must be given a choice to make their own decisions. Personally, I totally disagree with this statement for some reasons mentioned in this essay.
There are several positive effects of a completed high school education, such as : increased chances of getting a job with a higher compensation, an ability to enroll to the university and pursue your passion, which in turn, can make one happier and more satisfied with their life. Several companies, firms and even factories, for the last 10 years have been only considering applicants with a high school diploma. Not having attained one can significantly hinder individual’s chances of becoming employed. All in all, for many of us staying in school until we reach the age of 18 is crutial.
Having said that, I still think that nobody should be legally forced to graduate high school. Some of us might find their calling doing things which don’t require a formal education. Instead of getting a high school education, future artists, actors, singers and athlets are often more inclined to drop out to devote themselves to their future careers. Most of us are familiar with celebrities, such as Rihanna,Johnny Depp and Kate Winslet, all of whom have made a consious decision not to continue formal high school education in order to dedicate their free time to their careers.
To conclude, based on the aforementioned, there is no denying of the importance of formal high school education, which doesn’t mean it should be mandatory for everyone under the age of 18. Young people are entiltled to make their own decisions.
