Nowadays, gender equality remains a growing concern in many societies. Some people think that women still don’t have rights and opportunities as men. In this essay, I will explain both views and why I agree with this topic.
There are some obstacles that prevent women from having the same opportunities as males. In many societies, traditional social norms expect women to focus on housework and take care of children. This has an impact on women’s opportunities for their career growth. For example, women have less representation than men in senior management positions, such as hospital directors and university chancellors. Furthermore, violence and harassment against women are still common in some places. This can highlight the gender inequality in rights between men and women in society.
On the other hand, Women are now having the same rights and opportunities as men. Firstly, they have equal access to education in many countries. As education is the foundation to develop country’s future capable population. Many countries give an importance to this issue by providing opportunities for all kids to access free education without gender restriction. Moreover, women are now playing a significant role in numerous fields. Unlike in the past, when women’s roles were limited to housework and childcare. Many of them work as doctors, politicians, judges and professors, showing that they have access in professional careers.
In conclusion, even though social norms and harassment against women are major problems that contribute to failure of gender equality. Equal access to education and women’s roles in modern society reflect the progress made towards gender equality.
