There is a growing suggestion that people should aim for acquiring a well-paid profession instead of being a freelancer. In my opinion, although being an employee for a company provides higher financial security, working for oneself will result in more benefits.
Many proponents of being a salaries worker argue for its financial safety. If an individual works for an organization, he or she is less likely to worry about whether their incomes are going to be affected by the company’s revenue, as most employees’ wages are confronted and guaranteed to be delivered in equivalent amount every month. Hence, people are willing to sacrifice their own freedom and work under others’ instruction as long as they are financially secured. However, such motive could put them in a stagnating lifestyle, as they are increasingly like living in comfort and avoid taking risks to revolutionize their lives.
On the other hand, I believe working independently is more advantageous. As being one’s own boss, he or she has to make up their own mind in every decision in work. This would benefit them in developing decision-making skills, as they have to make considered decisions in order to lead their business to success. Additionally, being a freelancer also means that they need to manage every aspect of their business independently, which also contribute significantly to their versatility development. This is evident in many freelancing professions, particularly social media influencers, as they not only have to create content to promote their images, but also have to act and film themselves at the same time. Hence, being self-employed would foster a person to develop and good at multitude facets.
In conclusion, despite the financial security that being an employee brings about, I am convinced that working for oneself is more beneficial, as it puts people in harsh conditions which force them to resolve by themselves, enable to develop in multiple aspects.
