There are two prominent reasons for applying for this scholarship. The first is my deep interest in economics and finance. Since childhood, I have been an avid reader, exploring all kinds of literature, whether fictional or educational. One book that particularly captured my attention is Benjamin Graham’s ‘The Intelligent Investor.’ I attempted to read it in the ninth grade, but at the time, I struggled to grasp its concepts. However, this experience ignited a spark within me and set me on a path of unwavering dedication to learning about finance.
Following this discovery, I pursued various opportunities to deepen my understanding of financial concepts. I took economics as an extra subject in 11th grade, opted for a finance minor in college, and read extensive literature, including ‘The Psychology of Money’ and articles from the Economic Times. Throughout these years, Warren Buffett has served as a virtual mentor, and his principles of consistency and patience have greatly influenced my short investing journey. Preparing for and taking the CFA exams will elevate this journey to new heights. However, I face a significant obstacle: the high cost of the CFA exams, which leads me to my second reason for applying for this scholarship.
My life changed dramatically when I lost my father to COVID-19. Since then, I have had to balance my current job with overtime work to support my ailing grandmother and mother. This situation forced me to gather my strength and keep moving forward, despite the challenges. Securing this scholarship would enable me to fulfill my dreams while also allowing me to give back to my community and help others achieve their aspirations.
