There is a view that nowadays, in many countries children are facing obesity and becoming unhealthy. Some individuals presume that the state should take accountability. I partly disagree with this view, although the government can have this responsibility, parents’ contribution can also have a positive impact by teaching their children to eat nourishing meals and prevent eating high-calorie food.
Government intervention can play a crucial role alleviating this prevalent issue. In some countries, instead of forbidding junk food instead, the press promotes unhealthy food by allowing junk food companies to advertise openly. For example, these adverts capture the adolescents’ attention, creating a view in their brain that this food is really delicious even though it is hazardous. Consequently, If children consume these foods that are rich in calories and do not burn them they turn into body fat, making teenagers overweight and unhealthy.
However, the government can set taxes on fast food, by doing so it may reduce the children’s exposure towards junk food and many cafes may close their cafes due to increased tax. If children consume less-calorie meals their body starts losing weight instead of gaining it. For instance, a boy wants to eat junk food, and in the location that he lives if there are less fast food cafes rather than restaurants which produce nourishing meals from fresh produce the boy may not want to there to eat unhealthy food, or even though he goes there and eats junk food, he may burn it because thanks to location which is far from his home. This shows that the state can take responsibility to prevent children from consuming unhealthy food by imposing taxes on these kind of meals.
Moreover, parents could also take this responsibility by teaching their children how to eat healthy. The child adapts to the food which he or she eats in their home. If they adapt to eating clean from a young age, they might not find it difficult to eat meals that are rich in nutrition in the future and no longer suffer from obesity and illnesses that occur because of it. And if they eat fast food consistently instead of consuming meals that are rich in vitamins, they may simply adopt this eating habit. Consequently they become overweight and this obesity can lead to other diseases such as diabetes which is mainly related to obesity. For example, in countries like India, The United States, and Spain many children continuously consume junk food which makes them obese. Therefore, I believe that parents can also take this responsibility by teaching their children to eat clean from a young age,
In conclusion, in many countries, becoming obese has become more prevalent and I think this is not only governments’ accountability but also parents’ responsibility with reasons and examples mentioned above.
