Band 5+: In some cities and towns all over the world, the high volume of traffic is a problem. Some people think that in order to deal with this problem, cars should be banned in city centers, while others consider it to be an unrealistic solution. Discuss both sides and give an opinion.

Some cities and towns around the world are facing the traffic congestion problem. While some people believe that prohibition of private cars should be the solution, some argue that it is an unrealistic way of solving. I stand with the former statement.

The principal reason why cars should be banned can be divided into two parts, directly and indirectly. Direct impact on humanity is the causality by car crashes. Drunk driving and using phone while steering are mostly the main factors leading to accidents. According to the research conducted in the UK, over one million of people die annually due to car crashes. Some argue that other transport modes, including trains and buses may experience accidents. As those are the public transport, the causality could be more than private cars. In India, the article about train crash can be seen frequently in newspapers and online outlets. In my opinion, such kinds of transportation are controlled by well-developed system under the government commend, the chances of possible accidents are relatively low.

Indirect effect that is caused by private car is the environmental pollution, mainly carbon dioxide. It can damage the ozone layer that protects the earth from the ultra violet ray from the sun, and attack the human respiratory system. As a result of this, some people suffer from skin diseases and lung diseases. Based on the survey data around the world, twenty percent of world population are dealing with such diseases. Some say that carbon emission of cars can be reduced by replacing with electric cars that produce less carbon dioxide. However, from my point of view, the emission from the factories which produce the parts of electric car can be notably high.

In conclusion, there are some arguments about banning private vehicles as unrealistic solution, I consider it is a best option for society.
