After the industrial revolution, health problems become a vital issue among people due to the increasing amount white-collar workers, laziness and eating fast foods. One of the claimed solutions is adding tax to these kind of foods. In my view, is is not an affective approach, and I am not completely agree with it.
To begin with, the pace of time in the modern world in significantly high, and bulk parts of citizens in virtually all cities all around the world, cannot spend much time for cooking. So, it seems that even if the authorities increase the tax, or impose higher ‘Value Added Tax’ to fast foods and junk foods, it does not affect positively on the general health care among people.
Secondly, in a psychological standpoint, imposing a higher tax is a kind of civil punishment, and experts suggest that in some cases, pay a fine may not be impactful to persuade people to act in a more healthier way, in this case, eating less fast food. So, the education shows itself in these circumstances to be more affective.
Thirdly, in an opposite point of view, imposing higher tax would be a good decision in order to change minds to have a healthier diet. Scholars suggest that crowd bahaviours are Sometimes shocking, and our expectation of adding tax must be evaluated clinically, not just remain in theory.
To summary, I believe that these punishment, which is similar to the format of the punishment in breaking car-driving rules, is not a good choice to manage the eating of fast foods. Still, there are some proponents that their claims are considerably valid, and can be analyzed prsicely. So, the decision of whether imposing tax or not is controvertial and should be considerd again.
