Advantage And Disadvantage

Band 7+: in the future, robots will do more and more jobs instead of humans. Do these developments have more advantages or disadvantages?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

In today’s world, robots are replacing people in many jobs. There are benefits and drawbacks to this approach. The benefits include higher productivity and better accuracy, while the drawbacks are unemployment and a loss of skills. However, I strongly believe that these disadvantages far outweigh any potential benefits.

One major benefit of using robots for many jobs is enhanced productivity. Unlike people, robots do not get tired and can work continuously without breaks. Therefore, this allows jobs to be completed more rapidly. Additionally, robots are able to have improved accuracy. They can perform the same task repeatedly with consistent accuracy, which humans physically are not capable of. This consistency reduces mistakes. For instance, robots may sort and pack goods fast and correctly, even after performing the same task numerous times.

However, the drawbacks of replacing human workers with robots far outweigh the advantages, as this trend leads to high range of unemployment and a loss of skills. Many manufacturers might choose AI over individuals due to its efficiency. As a result, many people struggle to find new jobs. Another reason is a loss of skills. Since robots are doing many jobs, people may not practice their abilities and could gradually forget them. For example, translators who depend on AI may lose their language skills.

In conclusion, while advantages such as enhanced productivity and improved accuracy may benefit individuals, the long-term drawbacks such as unemployment and a loss of abilities are far more substantial. Therefore, people should limit the use of robots in certain jobs.
