Nowadays, the use of animals for food and animal products like. clothing and medicine become a topic for discussion. Some people believe it is unnecessary to use animals in this way, while others argue that animals are important for humans. I partially agree with the statement and believe that using animals can be reduced but it is not completely avoidable.
On the one hand, there are a lot of alternatives for animal products today. For instance, plant based foods such as almond milk which can replace dairy products. Cotton and synthetic materials can be good alternatives for wool and leather. Moreover, with modern technologies and science people can test medicines and vaccines without using animals. These developments suggest that using animals for testing is not important in many areas.
On the other hand, there are still situations where using animals is necessary. For example, meat and dairy products is the most essential part of the meal for many people, especially in countries where meat are most used ingredient of their cultural foods. Additionally, some special medicines, such as insulin are created from animals. And alternative options may not be available or affordable for people in many countries. This shows that animals play a vital role in several main industries.
In conclusion, while modern options and alternatives reduced the need of the animals for medicine, food and clothing, the complete elimination is not realistic in our days. Both approaches have to be balanced to meet people’s needs and minimize harm to animals. I believe that efforts should focus on reducing animal use and should focus on searching for more and more alternatives.
