Come to think of it, in the past young people used to study in their own country, but nowadays everything is different and the world has become more connected, and young people feel like studying abroad. Frankly speaking, I would rather study abroad because it not only helps me study well but also helps me learn how to live independently and take responsibility.
Children, especially when they are in their teens, go through physical and emotional development, which can be frightening, and studying in another country allows them to become more independent and learn how to face challenges. What’s more, youth culture is primarily a force of change, while the older generation prefers stability, and studying in another country helps young people challenge traditions and see the world differently.
On the other hand, we must take into consideration the fact that not every student gets benefits from university. Unfortunately, hardly any manage to work according to their degree. To put it mildly, in my country, Georgia, a university degree is no longer a guarantee of a good job. Some, if they are lucky, set up a small business, and some get an apprenticeship in a different field, because it turns out the years spent at university are a waste of time. In some cases, university graduates work in services, mostly part-time jobs like waitressing or hotel reception, and it’s such a waste of their skills. However, an international degree is more prestigious in my country, and that gives me a chance to find a good job.
