It cannot be denied that a considerable number of young people choose to engage in voluntary work in order to provide assistance to their local society. Despite the fact that serving in the community would limit young people and not all of them are interest in doing so, I believe that the benefits of this trend are far superior.
It has suggested that the period of adolescence is a time of self-discovery, during which individuals engage in exploratory activities to identify their interest in specific domains, therefore serving of society is clear disadvantages. It is common knowledge that community serving is not as ideal as people claim because at any time, certain problem may occur and could limit them to do things that would really useful to them. On top of that, even if they may upgrade their skills through volunteering activities, the quality and commitment of work may vary, as not all young adults may be genuinely motivated or interested in the tasks assigned.
On the flip side, many others have claimed that there are more obvious advantages by providing an opportunity to develop essential skills, such as teamwork, communication, and problem-solving, which are valuable in both personal and professional contexts. In addition, volunteering can enhance social awareness and empathy, as young adults interact with diverse community members and witness various social issues firsthand. These experiences can also enhance their employability, as many employers’ value community involvement and practical experience.
To sum up, although the obligation for young adults to perform unpaid community service has its disadvantages for those involved, it also has notable benefits.
