This essay will explore both perspectives in detail, supported by relevant reasons and examples.
On one side of the argument there are people who are convinced about the former opinion. The main reason for believing this is that English has become an international public language nowadays. To be more specific, most countries are using English for various parts of industries such as, trades, media, or politics so learning English enables students to approach information rapidly and directly from other countries./English acquisition would help for students to approach/ In addition, there are various benefits for critical thinking because learning languages help people think more rationally/ analytically . Each language has its own words and meanings, which encourage people to think about various ideas. As a result, English education promotes students to gain global information and independent thinking.
On the other hand, it is also probable to support the latter opinion. One of the biggest draws is that traditional cultures and histories are involved in local languages. Specifically, language has not only the power of communication but also the ability to pass down histories, thus students would know the great value of their countries through local languages. As a result, the advantages of local languages can help students notice their culture more accurately.
