Some claim that globalization has benefited the economy and cultural exchange whereas many argue that it results in inequality and the erosion of local traditions. In my opinion, globalization includes both advantages and disadvantages; it is a positive development rather than a negative one.
To begin with, globalization has positively influenced the whole world for a long time. International integration contributes to economic development. It enhances trade and investment of nations, especially developing countries. Additionally, it not only brings various job opportunities but also gives people access to advanced technologies that are beneficial for improvement of products’ quality. Furthermore, globalization also facilitates cultural exchange. The traveling of people, goods and information across borders has increased on account of modern technology over the past years. For example, people are recently able to share their own customs and traditions with different societies through social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Tiktok, Twitter, etc.
While promoting many advantages, it is important to recognize that globalization also presents drawbacks. One of them is the increased inequality. The wealth from selling in international or multinational companies returns to holding companies mostly in developed countries. Consequently, the gap between developed and developing countries is increasing over time. In addition, globalization also leads to disproportionate distribution of wealth. This phenomenon is clearly seen in India, where the top 1% of population held a staggering 22.6% of the country’s income and a whopping 40.1% of its wealth.
It is undeniable that globalization leads to some challenges, nevertheless, I believe that it is beneficial development. Beside economic promotion and cultural exchange, globalization is vital to education. People get access to a wide range of educational resources including online courses, online classrooms, etc. Moreover, globalization has significantly transformed traditional teaching and studying methods. Therefore, education quality is improved. Along with education, globalization positively impacts other aspects, such as environment, healthcare, etc.
In general, it is clear that globalization has impacted the world in positive and negative ways. However, it brings benefits more than challenges.
