Many people think that governments should spend money on arts and culture because it makes society better and helps to protect national traditions. However, other people believe that money should be used for more important things such as healthcare and infrastructure. In this essay, both views will be discussed and my opinion will be given.
On the one hand, funding arts and culture is important for a country. Museums, theaters and cultural events help people understand their history and feel proud of their culture. For example, traditional music and festivals can be lost if the government does not support them. In addition, arts can make people more creative and relaxed, which is good for mental health. Therefore, spending money on culture can improve the quality of life in society.
On the other hand, some people think that the government should focus on practical areas like healthcare and infrastructure. Hospitals, roads and public transport are necessary for people’s daily lives. If hospitals do not have enough money, people may not get proper treatment. Also, good infrastructure helps the economy grow and makes life more convenient. Because government budgets are limited, many people believe these areas should be the main priority. In my opinion, I believe that healthcare and infrastructure should be more important than arts and culture. Basic needs such as health and safety must be solved first. However, this does not mean that arts and culture are useless. Governments should spend most money on practical needs, but still give some support to cultural activities.
In conclusion, although funding arts and culture has benefits for society, I think governments should mainly invest in healthcare and infrastructure, while also supporting culture to a smaller degree.
