The specific program named digital detox is implemented by a lot of companies for their employees, when emails and online platforms are stricted. On the one side, some people perceive that the program is effective for staffs’ well-being. On the other hand, some believe that the restriction on personal freedom will hamper the efficiency. In personally, I advocate both of views and believe that the proper balance is imperative.
The digital detox can be beneficial in terms of employees’ emotional balance. This is because that excessive digital usage weighs on our mental health and decrease the length of deep concentration. Furthermore, since a communication based on digitals fails to create a real atmosphere, any kind of digital meeting constitute a personal one, ironically may have adversen effect to create anxiety, depression and burnout. In this term, it will be successful, if companies keep the appropriate balance between digital and real conversations.
On the other hand, it is apparent that if there are excessive restrictions on digitals, reversely, it will hinder the productivity of employees. For instance, without any email communication, the costs of transport and time will go up. In my office, we often use the shared files, which enables us to work remotely. If it is prohibited, we will waste a lot of time and energy. Therefore, I believe that the company should classify the unnessecary social platforms and essential tools.
In conclusion, restriction can have a advantegous impact on employees health, however, full prohibition will wander productivity at all. Because of the facts that, companies should investigate the importance of digital tools, then implement the policy reflected the proper balance between them.
