Band 6+: Many parents today do not spend much time with their children. Why is this? Does this affect parents or children more?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Nowadays, a significant proportion of parents tend not to spend quality time with their children because of multiple reasons such as having a lot of hours to work for both parents or just modern life distractions. Unfortunately, this “habit” of people may lead to some negative impacts, even harming the emotional well being of children and probably leading to “revenge” of children reflecting parents’ actions.

Many parents are caught up in a demanding work, influenced by societal pressures to achieve a better standard of living for their families. The pursuit of material success, driven by these expectations, unintentionally leads to a significant reduction in the amount of quality time parents can dedicate to their children. As a consequence, the relationships within the family experience noticeable strain due to the lack of meaningful interactions and shared experiences. The focus on work often takes precedence over nurturing familial bonds, creating a challenge in maintaining strong connections between parents and their children. This imbalance between professional and personal commitments underscores the impact of societal expectations on the intricate dynamics of family life, highlighting the need for a more balanced approach to work and family responsibilities.

Parents working a lot means they’re not around much for their kids. Even though kids may like having more freedom when their parents aren’t there, it can cause problems. They might struggle in school and have a hard time making friends. The special connection between parents and kids gets affected because parents are busy with work. While parents want a better life, it can end up hurting their kids’ happiness and growth because they miss having their parents around for support and guidance.

To sum up, the demanding work often leads parents to spend less time with their children, affecting family bonds. Achieving a balance between work and family is crucial for developing strong connections and supporting the well-being and growth of the younger generation
