In contemporary society, there is an ongoing debate about cycling and its impact on the environment. Although cycling is healthy and environmentally friendly mode of transport, it remains unpopular among other types of transport. This essay will discuss the main reasons and suggest possible solutions to encourage people to use bicycles.
One clear reason why cycling does not become common is that people still choose comfort and speed. This is because both public transport and private cars are able to transport people for a short period of time which make them more quickly compared to bicycles. Moreover, humans choose vehicles because of their convenience, these kinds of transport do not require people to make great effort. Therefore, people are more likely to travel by transport because these vehicles are faster and much more comfortable. For example, individuals who use only bicycles may spend a lot of time on travelling.
One effective solution is to low the number of vehicles. People who use mainly bicycles are more likely to become healthier because this mode of transport requires people to spin pedals and constantly move their feet which improve both the blood circulation and stamina. Also this approach can be effective to reduce air pollution. This is because numerous vehicles produce harmful emmission that negatively affect the air quality. As a result, not only does cycling help people enhance their health, but it also enables them to reduce air pollution. For example, some countries replace cars to bicycles in order to improve the air quality.
In conclusion, although cycling becomes unpopular because of the convenience in public transport and private cars, I believe that this issue can be addressed by lowering the number of vehicles.
