In an era characterized by technological advancements, people argue that governments and private companies should spend more money on addressing real-world problems instead of space exploration. While I acknowledge that there are notable benefits of space investigation, I believe that earth-related problems should be prioritized.
Without a doubt, space exploration offers numerous advantages in terms of long-term preservation of Earth. When scientists are provided with sufficient funding and resources, they will investigate space in detail and identify potential threats, which helps them prevent the world from facing major future problems. For instance, meteorites or other space objects can be detected in advance by space exploration, thereby protecting Earth from significant damages. In a world where humans are confronting a wide range of issues in terms of environment, it is of paramount importance to preserve Earth in a good condition for generations to come.
However, in my view, governments and major corporations should allocate their financial resources to address other challenges we are experiencing on a global scale such as climate change. If they opt for investing in renewable energy and other eco-friendly sources of fuel, many factories and car owners would begin to use these sources of energy rather than harmful fuels that produce carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. As a result, it leads to a cleaner environment and better living conditions, thus profoundly improving the overall quality of life. A case in point is my country, Uzbekistan, where a substantial amount of money is directed to solving current environmental issues instead of prioritizing space-related research.
In conclusion, although space investigation can bring about several benefits when it comes to protecting Earth from external threats, from my perspective, there are far more important issues like climate change which require a great deal of attention.
