Band 7+: Many people nowadays tend to marry and have children in their thirties rather than at a younger age. Is this a positive or negative development?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

The number of people who start a family in their thirties is observed to increase; however, younger individuals tend not to rush about getting married. In my opinion, this trend has a positive effect on society, and the reasons to support my agreement are given below.

To begin, getting married comes with huge responsibilities, and these duties get multiplied when the couple decides to have a baby, which can be harsh for young people. Due to their lack of experience, young spouses often underestimate the number of issues that may occur, such as financial problems and the mental needs of a child. In comparison, people who get married in their thirties are often educated and fully aware of what is ahead of them. However, a young couple who faces this kind of massive responsibility tends to panic and escape from the situation, which is also hazardous for their own psychological well-being. In most cases, young couples, especially parents, fail to rescue their marriages; they eventually get divorced or live in malicious conditions. For example, in the Middle East, juveniles who hit puberty are often being forced to start a family, and children of those spouses are prone to encounter many difficulties, such as mental disorder or addiction.

Another drawback of getting married at early ages is that the duties of marriage do not let them focus on their education and hobbies, which can cause significant challenges in personal development. A young person is eager to travel and enjoy the world, and those who get married may miss their chances for travel and entertainment, whereas an individual who passed thirty has already done all and is ready to start a family. Being inexperienced can also harm their emotional maturity, leading to negatively affecting their perception of the world. Fully understanding the needs of their own kids, who are the members of the next generation, is tough for parents who lack experience. For example, in Japan, there is an interdependence between parents and children, since the kids assume that their families cannot understand them.

In conclusion, delaying marriage until their thirties is a favorable decision, and it allows individuals to live their twenties to the fullest, and be financially and emotionally prepared for a marriage.
