The debate over whether government funding should be allocated to creating new buildings – museums or town halls – instead of renovating existing ones has long been a topic of much discussion. While some argue that new buildings can include modern technology, energy-efficient systems, and better infrastructure, I firmly believe that restoring old buildings can be more cost-effective and it helps country to preserve its cultural and historical landmarks.
Without a doubt, constructing new buildings can bring several benefits. Modern buildings can be designed with high-tech devices, better infrastructure, and energy efficient systems. For example, newly constructed museums can have digital exhibitions, larger space, and advanced technologies such as virtual reality rooms where visitors can get information about the historical events and artefacts in the museum. In addition, highly populated cities and metropolises need additional facilities to serve increasing population, which older buildings may not be able to provide. Therefore, building new structures can sometimes increase the quality of public service. Additionally, renovating buildings is generally more environmentally friendly because it reduces construction waste and the consumption of new materials.
On the other hand, renovating older buildings is often more practical solution. Redeveloping a constructions is usually more budget friendly, as it do not require building from scratch, and the remaining money can be channeled into more important sectors like health care and education. Furthermore, many of the old building preserve historical and cultural value, and preserving them helps to maintain nation’s identity. For example, old town halls and museums often attract tourists, which can also contribute to local economy. Additionally,
In conclusion, although new structures provide new facilities and serve for higher number of people, I believe governments should prioritize renovating existing buildings as it is more economical, environmentally sustainable, and beneficial for preserving cultural heritage.
