The internet has become one of the main sources of information for all people. However, some argue that online information is wrong or misleading. I partially agree with this view because the internet not only provides valuable knowledge but also contains false data that can mislead the people.
The increase of false information on social media platforms or websites is one of the major problems. Many organizations post content without checking or not having proper sources, leading to spreading rumors online and becoming fake news. One clear example is, during the disease or pandemic, like COVID-19, misinformation about vaccines and infections created panic among people. In addition, political or big commercial parties manipulate the facts. Some news agencies, businesses, or politician mislead the context and make it difficult to find the truth.
Another point to consider is, the internet also provides the reliable information from respected sources, it is unfair that the internet is fully unreliable. Government websites and some news agencies ensure that information is not only accurate but also from trustworthy sources. Although, technology is time to time advanced, therefore, made it easy by advance search engine like google constantly update algorithms that filter the content and cross checking the information.
In conclusion, while it is not denying that the internet has a lot of incorrect information, it also benefits to access the well-researched and meaningful knowledge. The key lies in how people use the internet. Instead of blindly trust on any information, individuals should verify and cross-check the sources. So, they can get the full advantage of internet and prevent from misinformation.
