Band 5+: Obesity is now a major global epidemic.what can be done to tackle this increasingly common problem. Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge and experience

Nowadays, more and more people are getting obese, causing a serious global issue. This problem must be handled by each individual on their own, but one’s government could support the idea of reducing the amount of their obese citizens.

Obesity can be a result of many different unhealthy habits. Consuming way too much processed food, as well as not eating enough vegetables and fruits may lead to obesity on the long run. On the other hand, people tend to have office jobs that require them to sit all day, with little to no movement at all. It’s everyone’s own responsibility to take care of their body, which is often not as obvious as it seems.

These bad habits can lead to obesity, if it’s not taken seriously enough, and after it will only cause more and more problems. It can increase the risk of diabetes, which is an extremely serious, life-long health issue. Besides this, people with way too much weight can easily reach a point where they cannot even get out of bed because they are unable to move their body. This can affect their quality of life not to mention the persons’ who is responsible for taking care of them as well.

However, people can and should prevent this by paying attention to their own health. Cooking healthy meals, incorporating fruits and vegetables into their diet, or exercising regularly can revert the process of becoming obese. This problem is everyone’s own responsibility, but the government can also help their citizens by introducing some kind of benefits that support these ideas. For example, reducing prices of healthy food in the supermarkets, or organizing free sport events can contribute to these goals as well.
