In the modern day and age, there is a divergence of opinions regarding whether using unnecessary flights results in greater fuel consumption compared to cars on the road, leading to significant environmental pollution. Although there are opposing arguments against unnecessary flights, I think a more holistic approach is crucial.
On the one hand, the reasons why some individuals might argue that taking a short trip by plane is unnecessary seem obvious. Firstly, there is evidence supporting the notion that flights can consume a large amount of fuel in comparison to cars on the road. By way of illustration, a single flight from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City can consume as much fuel as a car does in several months. This excessive fuel usage can consequently contribute to substantial environmental pollution.
On the other hand, despite the aforementioned arguments, I tend to believe that the advantages of taking flights outweigh the disadvantages. The primary benefit is that the number of cars on the roads is a significant source of pollution. As a case in point, according to the World Health Organization, the use of cars on the road leads to a considerable number of annual deaths. Instead, various measures can be implemented, such as enhancing public transportation, carpooling, and transitioning to electric vehicles. These measures should be implemented along with restrictions on unnecessary flights.
In conclusion, the disadvantages of using fuel for unnecessary flights are present; however, I am of the opinion that the advantages surpass them in the grand scheme of things.
