Some people tend to believe that the sole reason for people to work hard is making money and there is nothing else that can explain this. Even though I think that financial compensation is crucial when it comes to work and there are people who are only motivated by money, I still think that it cannot be considered the only motivational factor for people to be hardworking since some professionals are eager to fulfil their potential.
Admittedly, the financial aspect may be vital for some people as they might be struggling with making ends meet and covering basic necessities due to their low pay checks. Then, their work focus can be completely shifted to working hard to provide for the family. What is more, the breadwinner of the family may see working only for money as their primary goal because their family members clearly depend on them. As a result, people may prioritize making money over any other potential reason for hard work.
Nevertheless, studies suggest that the majority of education and healthcare workers are often found to be underpaid. Yet these professionals are devoted to their vocation as their income is not as important to them as pursuing their career is. Moreover, some people, for example animal shelter staff, may be also motivated to be industrious by the idea of making the world a better place and protecting those who are in danger. This way, people prioritise reaching their non-financial goals over the financial motivation.
In conclusion, although I agree that some workers are only encouraged to work hard by the compensation they receive as they may be financially struggling, I do not agree that it is the only factor for staff members to toil away since some of them want to fulfil their potential.
