Nowadays, owing to worldwide information distribution, the importance of the environment has become increasingly significant. As a result, the environment has turned into a controversial topic of discussion. A part of community believes that the undeveloped and vacant parts of municipal areas should be allocated to vegetation, while others discuss that they should be used in order to expand urban areas and to construct accommodation amenities.
In the last few decades and as a result of fast growth of cities, green spaces within the city limits have been destroyed. This situation has led to a number of ecological issues, namely increased temperature and air pollution. Moreover it has put a considerable number of animal species on the verge of extinction. Owing to this, lots of people argue that vacant areas within city borders should be considered for vegetation in order to advert the environmental effects that are caused by man kind. Doing so, within a few years window, we might be able to save the species that are under the treat of dying out, change weather temprature patterns and even control air pollution.
On contrary, a part of community believes that vacant spaces of municipal areas should be used in order to expand accommodation facilities. This part argues that due to economical issues affecting citizens, constructing affordable housing facilities is a priority. Moreover, these houses can be designed in a way that they contribute to the city’s green spaces. for instance, by designing green buildings and apartments or “vertical gardens” that have green spaces on every floor, the vacant areas can be used for both means: expand green areas and develop accommodation amenities.
All in all, given the above, it is clear that with proper planning, it is possible to satisfy both parts of community. Doing so, not only the society can benefit from eco-friendly urban areas but also they can enjoying affordable housing within city limits.
