Band 8+: Shopping in store is better than shopping online. To what extent do you agree?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Whether traditional retailing methods or internet shopping is more efficient has been a topic of discussion lately. Although there are clear benefits to shopping in stores, I tend to agree only in part with the proposed suggestion. The positive gains of purchasing products via the internet outweigh any potential drawbacks one may encounter, both lines of reasoning which will be outlined in the following article.

On the one hand, using an online purchasing platform has certain clear benefits. Firstly, since buyers can shop from the comfort of their homes rather than being physically be present in stores, it is a quicker and less stressful method for acquiring items. For instance, the companies Amazon and eBay provide a vast array of goods, with customers simply making purchases at their leisure, thereby offering unparalleled convenience. Secondly, shoppers can now compare a variety of brands from different retailers in real time, resulting in people being more informed when purchasing products. For example, simultaneously differentiating between footwear labels like Converse and Vans is a wonderful advancement for everyday shoppers.

Electronic shopping, however, contains several considerable drawbacks too. The inability for buyers to examine products before making a purchase is a major weakness, such as being unable to try on apparel to ensure that it fits appropriately. Moreover, items purchased online can be frequently less dependable, and the goods that clients do receive may be of lower quality than they had anticipated. Additionally, returning goods which aren’t of merchantable quality can be challenging due to the number of documents that must be completed accordingly, including labeling, shipping, packaging, and tracking. Often, customers will avoid this procedure as its complexities can be frustrating.

In conclusion, the aforementioned discourse emphasizes the universal popularity of online shopping, while disregarding its inherent flaws. In reaffirming my stance, I reiterate the assertion that given the fact this trend is irreversible and provides advantages for customers which are unparalleled, I, therefore, agree only in part with the suggested statement.
