The number of people seeking employment long-term is increasing, and many receive government benefits to help them manage financially. However, some individuals seem to have grown accustomed to this lifestyle and may lack motivation to seek employment. I believe that requiring long-term job seekers to participate in volunteer work would benefit both these individuals and society.
Firstly, government restrictions could prevent people from remaining unemployed indefinitely. For instance, in Germany, job opportunities are offered every six months, and if a person refuses a suitable job, they risk losing their government benefits. Policies like these could be beneficial in other countries, as they would reduce the number of unemployed individuals and help fill vacant job positions.
Additionally, having unemployed people engage in volunteer work would be advantageous for society. Activities such as cleaning city streets, patrolling for stray animals, or organizing large city events like concerts would offer valuable support to the community. For example, during a recent festival in my city, all the organizers were extremely busy, and additional volunteers would have been greatly appreciated.
In conclusion, while some may be content with relying on government benefits, it is essential for governments to implement measures encouraging them to contribute to the community. By doing so, they give back and gain valuable experience and skills that may help them in future employment.
