Band 8+: Some people believe that printed books are no longer necessary in this digital era as all writings can be stored electronically. Others think that printed books still play an important role. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Some people believe that printed books are no longer necessary in the digital age, while others argue that they still play an important role. This essay will discuss both views before presenting my own opinion.

On the one hand, it is argued that digital books have made printed books less essential. One major reason is convenience. E-books can be stored on smartphones, tablets, or e-readers, allowing people to carry thousands of books without any physical burden. In addition, digital books are often cheaper and easily accessible. With just an internet connection, readers can download books instantly, which saves both time and money. Moreover, digital platforms offer features such as search functions and adjustable font sizes, making reading more flexible and user-friendly.

On the other hand, many people believe that printed books remain important despite technological advances. Firstly, reading physical books provides a better reading experience for some individuals. Many readers find it easier to concentrate when reading printed materials, as digital screens can cause eye strain and distractions. Secondly, printed books do not require electricity or internet access, which makes them more reliable in certain situations. Furthermore, printed books have cultural and educational value, especially for children, as they encourage deeper engagement and reduce screen dependency.

In my opinion, although digital books are highly practical and increasingly popular, printed books still have an important place in society. Both formats can coexist, as they serve different purposes and preferences. While digital books are ideal for convenience and quick access, printed books are better suited for focused reading and long-term learning.

In conclusion, even though some people consider printed books unnecessary in the digital era, I believe they continue to play a valuable role alongside digital alternatives.
