There is ongoing debate about whether printed books should be replaced by electronic ones. Others, however, believe that printed books are indispensable.
On the one hand, there are compelling reasons why many people consider printed books unnecessary in modern world. First and foremost, electronic books are convenient. A single tablet or smartphone can store thousands of books, making it easy to carry a whole library in the pocket. This eliminates the need to carry heavy textbooks or novels, which is especially beneficial for students and travellers. Secondly, digital books are cheaper as publishers do not have to bear the costs of printing and packaging. In many cases, academic materials or popular novels can be found for absolute free of charge. Consequently, electronic books are more convenient to carry and more affordable.
On the other hand, supporters of printed books argue that they can offer unique advantages that e-books cannot. One of the primary advantages of printed books are that paper books are more beneficial for concentration. Unlike digital books that expose constant notifications and advertisements paper books enables people to remain fully concentrated during reading process. As a result this makes it easier to understand the content of the book. Another important benefit is that paper books offer indispensable experience of holding a book. Many individuals love to turn pages or even smell them, which strengthens the emotional connection with what they read, making it more enjoyable and memorable experience.
In conclusion, while some argue that digital books are more beneficial in modern era due to its convenience and affordability, others believe that paper books are indispensable because they do not distract the reader with ads and notifications, and can offer unique experience of holding physical book. In my opinion, both formats has their own pluses and minuses, therefore I think they should coexist in modern world.
