Technology is no longer a stranger in our daily lives. As the world rapidly develops, technology has become deeply integrated into every corner of modern society. While its benefits are undeniable, technology has also sparked debate—some argue that it isolates people and reduces face-to-face interactions, while others believe it strengthens connections and enhances communication.
In my opinion, both sides raise valid points, but the impact of technology ultimately depends on how we use it. Like a double-edged sword, it can either bring people closer or push them apart.
Take the internet and social media, for example. These platforms allow people from all walks of life to share information instantly, without borders. However, they also expose users to negative content—hate speech, cyberbullying, and misinformation can spread freely. Such exposure may lead to anxiety, low self-esteem, or social withdrawal, especially among younger users. This, in turn, can make people feel more isolated and disconnected from real life.
On the flip side, technology has revolutionized how we connect with one another. With just a few taps, we can video chat with loved ones overseas, attend virtual events, or collaborate with international teams. In education, technology makes learning more accessible and flexible. Students can take online courses, watch tutorials, or exchange ideas in real time with peers from different cultures. This not only boosts knowledge but also fosters global friendships and understanding.
All things considered, technology is irreplaceable and plays an increasingly important role in our lives. Rather than criticize it, we should focus on using it responsibly and purposefully—as a tool to connect, learn, and grow, just as it was originally intended.
