Nowadays, online translation tools are becoming more popular, and some people believe they reduce the importance of learning foreign languages. Others argue that these tools improve communication and encourage people to learn new languages.
On the one hand, online translation make communication more accessible and translation apps allow people to communicate without studying another language for many years. In our world, if people have phone they can do everything. For example they can travel without learning languages, they can translate in their phone using translate apps. If machines always do the work, real human skills might slowly become weaker. This situation could reduce interest in foreign language education in schools and universites.
On the other hand, translation tools can also make intercultural communication easier and more exciting. A good example of this is people in all countries, majority dont learn languages to communication, they just use phone. These tools can act as learning support by helping students understand new words and practise pronuncation. Instead of replacing education, technology can increase confidence and make language learning less difficult. As a result, more people may decide to study languages seriously.
For my point of view, online translators are useful but cannot fully replace real language knowledge. True communication requires cultural understanding and emorional expression, which machines cannot perfectly copy. Therefore, translation tools should be used as helpful assistans, while learning foreign languages should still remain an important goal.
