Band 6+: Some people believe that university education should be free for everyone, while others think that students should pay for their higher studies. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

Some people believe that university education should be free for everyone which makes less pressure on families, reduces crime and social issues. While others think students should pay for their own higher education because paying makes students value their studies more as well as universities can use tuition fees to improve facilities and teaching. I believe that students should pay to their own higher education.

Nowadays, several individuals assume that university education ought to be free for all because not everyone can afford tuition fees. For example, poor families cannot teach their children university with higher education because of their low-salary. However, they also want their children to receive higher education, yet they are unable to pay the tuition fees. If universities will be free, children from low-income families will also able to attend as students from rich families. Another purpose is reducing crime among young adults because everyone has a dream to study university. Nevertheless, they cannot pay for their education. So, if higher education become free, more young people will have opportunities to study instead of turning into crime.

On the other hand, free education can also create problems. For example, some students may not value education if it is provided at no cost, which can lower the quality of learning. In addition, the government would need to increase taxes to cover the expenses and this could still put pressure on families. Therefore, it is important to find a balance between affordability and responsibility.

In addition, paying makes students value their studies more. When people invest money into something, they usually take it more seriously. If education is completely free, some students may not appreciate the opportunity and could waste their time. Also universities can use tuition fees to improve facilities and teaching. For example, the money can be spent on modern libraries, laboratories, and hiring qualified professors, which provides students with a better quality of education.

In conclusion, although free university education may seem beneficial, it can also create problems such as students not valuing their studies and financial pressure on the government.
