Some group of people believe that the widespread of advertisement has led to an inefficiency of this method and its initial intention cannot be achieved, whereas the others firmly believe in efficiency of the advertisement. This essay will examine both sides and provide subjective opinion.
Believed in an inefficiency of advertisement, the individuals explain it by its widespread and, consequently, communities’ adaptation to it. It can be attributed to gradual social adaptation to advertisement and gradual admitting it as a part of daily life. For instance, base commercial slogans cannot persuade public because of their deep embedding into the popular culture. Moreover, people tend to unconsciously skip commercials and not paying attention to it. Another argument proving this point is that an unlimited access to the information has dramatically increased public awareness. In other words, presence of different information sources has made classical advertisement methods easy to disprove. A demonstrative example is that …
On the other hand, the opposite group think that advertisement still has a great influence on the public opinion shaping and changing it radically. The individuals claim that advertisement has an impact to the origination of public opinion. Consequently, thus created opinion has a great influence to distinct individuals, which eventually will lead to the promotion of a certain idea or a product. This can be attributed to new approaches used in commercials. For example, companies may produce scandal advertisement. Moreover, some of the classical methods are still useful, e.g. demonstration of widespread of the product, or depiction its status and high value in communities. Apple advertisements and presentations still have huge influence on the society shaping need in new iPhone, albeit it has not particularly changed, compared to the previous one.
From my perspective, even though commercials have became a common thing in public life and people have been used to it, ads still play a notable role in social life. Advertisements shape public opinion, albeit public awareness has rose significantly throughout the last few decades. Communities still experience huge effort of the advertisements. For example, using classical persuade approached, Apple has a great influence on public opinion.
All things considered, some group of people claim that advertising is extremely successful at persuading. Other people hold an opinion suggesting that commercial is no longer efficient in this process and its initial intention cannot be accomplished this way. As I think, commercial is still useful at persuading society, but companies have to use new methods in order to achieve this.
