There has been much controversy about whether the upward trend of interaction in business and cultural aspects among nations is a positive or negative developments. Although both viewpoints are valid, I strongly support that this is a positive development.
On the one hand, people who advocate that this increasing contact is disadvantageous may point to the potential fade in the culture. In our interconnecting world, this worry is reasonable as young people, who are confronting with the general global trend, may not be interested in the traditional culture. With the rapid development of the technology, these convention things may seem obsolete for them and may not draw their attention. For example, the traditional costumes of many nation such as Ao Dai of Vietnamese people are being less popular due to the appearance of western clothes such as suits or jeans. It is therefore believed that the interaction among nations may have detrimental impacts.
However, I strongly support this positive trend due to its superior merits. First and foremost, international contacts foster the economy of a country. As globalization brings about the sharing in technology and business, many poorer nations could benefits from that. Hence, the living standard in these countries will improve and the gap between the rich and poor could be reduced. For example, Vietnam after the war, had experienced many economic struggles thanks to the restriction of America; nevertheless, after interactions and cooperation with China and many other countries in the later period, the economy of Vietnam witnessed a rapid recovery. Moreover, contacts between cultures can add new things to the variety of their own cultures, such as cuisine or music. Clearly, the increasing trend of business and cultural contacts is beneficial.
In conclusion, the international contacts in business and cultures may potentially detrimental as there might be a fade in conventional manners in the young generation, who are confronting with the general world. However, I advocate that this is a positive development due to the merits in fostering the economy of a nation and the sharing in culture among countries.
