It’s argued that the internet isn’t safe because of the improper content it contains and that the government should monitor the data displayed on websites to tackle this problem. I totally agree with this opinion because the government should be held responsible for the kind of information shown for internet users, and due to the fact that controlling people’s attitudes in any other way could be challenging.

I believe that the governing system should be in charge of preventing bad ideologies and beliefs from emerging into society. Therefore, websites surveillance is mandatory to apply in order to eradicate this type of web pages, which is essential for the wellbeing of people living in the country. This can be achieved easily by training AI models to detect such information and send notifications to officials. For example, in recent years, many developed nations—such as Germany—have invested in building machine learning models for this purpose. As a result, the amount of harmful data available online decreased significantly.

Another reason for my belief is that people cannot be controlled easily; It’s extremely hard to make citizens stay away from the huge amount of misinformation found on various platforms, because people tend to have a curious nature and the willingness to explore everything. For instance, some countries, including Egypt, tried to increase the awareness of the residents by running campaigns; however, the results were not as effective as blocking those websites.

In conclusion, I support the claim that the government should hide inappropriate content shared online from internet users, owing to the fact that the governing system is the system that must be responsible for the safety of the citizens and that it’s difficult to have control over people’s behaviours.
