Band 7+: Some people think educated people are more valuable than people who learned skills through experience. Do you think educated people are most valuable for society? What kind of skill can people learn through experience that can benefit society?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

There is a view that a literate part of society is of greater importance than those who have honed a range of skills through personal experience. In my viewpoint, while education is considered to be extremely valuable for improving the employability of humans and their standard of living, acquiring a high level of experience can also set people apart in our fiercely competitive world. Moreover, experience can develop a range of cognitive skills that are crucial in both personal and professional life.

On the one hand, the majority of people prioritize receiving education before embarking on a career, as candidates with solid academic degrees are valued in global job markets. By gaining a diploma or certificate, they can promote employment prospects such as well-paid job offerings and promotions, thus enhancing one’s quality of life. A case in point is my country, where diplomas hold more value than experience, making a significant impact on hiring processes.

On the other hand, I contend that an experienced workforce could be an invaluable asset that causes companies to thrive. Oftentimes, educational places fail to provide hands-on experience for would-be employees, not allowing them to shape practical skills such as working with customers and dealing with an intense working schedule. Humans who have never accomplished any higher education but have accumulated a rich experience naturally by starting a career straight after finishing school are able to hone these valuable skills, making them more recognized and respected in companies. Without experience, people probably become ordinary workers, contributing less to the prosperity of both companies.

In terms of skill development, the experience enables people to learn various skills that also have benefits for our society. If humans consistently face challenges in workplaces, requiring solving them quickly before hindering company productivity, they undoubtedly end up developing a strong coping mechanism, which can be transferable in their personal lives. As a result, they become capable of tackling more serious problems later. In addition, experience also paves the way for an improved sense of resilience and perseverance, therefore enduring any circumstances their country undergoes.

In conclusion, although education is believed to be a contributing factor in helping people achieve successful careers and lives, experience stands out as the most valuable element for thriving businesses. Regarding the skills the experience fosters, humans can promote skills like problem-solving and a strong sense of endurance in tough situations.
