Some people believe that governments should focus on reducing environmental pollution and improving housing conditions to prevent illness and disease. I partly agree with this opinion because these issues are important, but there are also other factors that affect people’s health.
On the one hand, lowering pollution can clearly reduce many health problems. Air pollution, for example, causes asthma, lung infections and heart diseases. If the government controls factory emissions and encourages people to use public transport, the air will become cleaner and fewer people will get sick. Water pollution is also dangerous because it leads to stomach illnesses and skin problems. Therefore, taking actions to protect the environment can prevent many diseases.
Improving housing conditions is another way to protect people’s health. Many families live in crowded or poorly built homes where there is dampness, mould and not enough fresh air. These conditions can cause allergies, breathing problems and stress. If the government builds affordable and safe housing, especially for low-income families, people will have a healthier lifestyle and feel more secure.
