It is reported that some people believe that increasing the price of fuel is the most effective to prevent environmental burdens. While this remedy can be beneficial to some extent, I believe that the combination of strategies, including stricter penalties for environmental problems, would be more effective.
One major driver behind my stance is increasing the cost of fuel, which plays a vital role in reducing environmental issues. Burgeoning technology has led people to use fuel excessively, meaning that the more transportation machinery is produced, the more fuel is used among people. This, in turn, can cause harmful effects, such as release of harmful pollutants to the environment can affect individuals’ health. A case in point can be Norway, where the cost of fuel is relatively expensive, which is a key way to reduce excessive fuel use. Hence, it is essential to rise the cost of fuel.
Another albeit important, reason is setting heavy fines. It is true that hefty fines can be an effective measure in a bid to keep air pollution, deforestation, and global warming at bay. Nowadays, a significant number of people struggle due to their financial circumstances, and imposing heavy penalties might have a strong deterrent effect on behaviors that harm the environment. When individuals or corporations are aware that their harmful actions—such as illegal logging, dumping waste, or emitting excessive greenhouse gases—will lead to severe financial consequences, they are more likely to act responsibly.
Having considered both aspects, I conclude that both increasing fuel prices and imposing strict penalties are effective ways to address environmental problems.
