In this day and age, it is widely believed that learning a language during childhood is the best option, while some individuals argue that school should be the starting point. This essay will discuss both views and perspectives before presenting my own opinion.
On the one hand, studying languages at a more mature age can be more effective and academically structured, as schools provide clear and systematic information without unnecessary or unproven methods. Additionally, starting to learn a language at school can be less time-consuming for parents because it does not require much effort from them.
On the other hand, childhood is widely considered to be the best period for learning and absorbing information. During this stage, brain activity is at its peak and can adapt and form new neural connections extremely quickly compared to adulthood. This allows children to learn a language without formal teaching, as simple conversations that occur around them are often more than enough. Moreover, learning a language at an early age can positively affect a child’s cognitive and academic performance, as it stimulates the development of new neural connections.
In my opinion, starting to learn a language at a young age should be one of the main priorities for parents because it allows children to acquire a language more easily and can bring positive effects such as better memory, faster adaptation, and improved overall performance.
To summarize the abovementioned information, even though schools may provide an easier and more convenient way of learning a language, childhood remains the better option.
