Band 5+: Some people think that cities should be designed to be beautiful rather than functional. Do you agree?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

While it is considered by some that cities designed to be gorgeous are vital, others might argue that towns with useful function are more crucial. This essay will explain both points of view and my agreement with both arguments.

To begin with, it might seem sensible to believe that allowing cities to be stunning is important. To explain it simply, this is because beautiful cities lead to fascinating tourism, which is responsible for the growth of economy in nations. For instance, Chiangmai where is the most popular city in the northern Thailand attracts foreigners to travel more than 5 thousand people per year due to the gorgeous city’s map. Consequently, Chiangmai’s economy increases significantly every year.

On the other hand, opponents might propose that functional cities are more vital, particularly quality transportation. This is due to the fact that citizens are able to commute to work in the cities conveniently, leading to the economic growth in countries. To illustrate, there are a number of trains in China which connect urban and rural areas; therefore, individuals can reap a great benefit from this action.

Personally, I strongly believe that cities can be composed of both beautiful and functional designs. My reasoning is that if nations are fostered by stunning and functional layout, doing so can make contributions to the growth of economy more than one type of cities. For example, irrigation in Tokyo is developed for not only beautiful but also functional, which Japanese can utilize water while traveling reservoirs.

In conclusion, although it is undeniable that beautiful cities play an important role in nation’s economy, I am of the opinion that both functional and beautiful towns are more necessary.
