Opinion is divided on who is responsible for taking care of residents’ diet. From my perspective, it is necessary to have coordination between the authorities and each person in the society.
To begin with, with the wide influence, there are several ways for the governments to exert their power in controlling the eating habits of citizens such as prohibiting excessive amounts of sugary food. For instance, In the USA, the State released a law restricting the number of chocolate bars, candies, named but a few; imported due to its impact on kids and adults’ weight, which has resulted in decreasing obesity. Moreover, the authorities are able to launch several campaigns to raise the public awareness of getting unwanted health problems due to leading sedentary lifestyles in habitants as well as encourage people to participate in some forms of sports, which are largely applied and succeed in several countries.
However, the efforts of administrations on a better healthy diet could not yearn for success if each citizen in the community doesn’t take care of their body’s health and try their best to confront aforementioned remedies. For the former solution, inhabitants easily indulged themselves in consuming sugary items because the governments can not ban all of them for their necessity on a daily basis. Regarding the latter, all the things they need to do is ignoring the encouragement and continue on binging-watch.
In conclusion, although the impact of the government on helping their residents get lean is significant, they cannot address this residential problem without individuals’ engagement.
