Rarely have water supplies sparked as much debate as it does today. While some people believe that humans can make use of water as much as they want, others claim that governments must limit water usage due to the fact that freshwater is not infinite. In my view, governments must establish stirct regulations to restrict excessive water usage as mankind is already facing scarcity of freshwater in some regions of Earth.
On the one hand, water is essential for agriculture. Though some people indeed waste water by several means including toying with it, restricting it can be detrimental for farmers as their crops require huge amounts of water supplies to grow. Limiting water usage can decrease their farms efficiency simply because of scarcity of water. What is more, freshwater is provided by nature, and because of it, some people believe no one has rights to control it, not to mention restrict its usage.
On the other hand, many people nowadays leave the tap open. Apart from environmentally consiouc group, humans take water for granted, not even considering the fact that every single year, mankind is wasting thousands of liters of fresh water. This, though not overnight, will surely bring us to exhaustion of freshwater like what happened with the river in central Asia. Furthermore, in many regions across the globe, humans are already dealing with scarcity of water, and without restriction of freshwater utilization, the problem will continue to escalate.
In conclusion, though some people might argue that they have rights to make use of water supply as much as they want, others think governments must limit freshwater utilization. However, I believe that restrictions must be set up and as soon as possible, as without limitations, mankind will inevitably face scarcity of freshwater.
