The introduction of AI and its tremendous impacts on the modern world have consistently been changing various aspects of life. In this circumstance, some people believe that AI could be a highly supportive assistant to humans, while others say it raises several concerns about multiple negative influences. In this essay, I will discuss both viewpoints along with my personal perspective.
To commence with, there are several reasons that support the advocates of the significance of AI. First and foremost, AI serves as a valuable asset for business owners in managing and optimizing labor costs. In other words, the integration of AI enables labor cost reduction, thereby substantially decreasing the production cost of goods. Another convincing point is that AI can be an effective tool for education, since a growing number of learners are benefiting from AI in their studies. As a result, one of the most predictable outcomes is that their attendance at educational institutions becomes less necessary and more flexible.
Conversely, those who are concerned about the ramifications of AI for the well-being of humans have their own arguments. Admittedly, the contemporary economy functions as a highly interdependent and cyclical system, which means the labor forces are simultaneously customers. More specifically, AI-driven replacement can cause global-scale unemployment when laid-off workers are less able to cover their basic needs, and then total revenues may consequently decline. Notably, the displacement of traditional methods by AI may raise concerns among parents about its suitability for their children’s learning. Due to its deficiency of fundamental human traits, especially emotional intelligence, it would be a great challenge for AI to comprehensively develop humans in terms of intellect, physical capacity, and emotional health.
Personally, I contend that the existence of AI in the modern fast-paced world is inevitable. As a person who has been active in the field of education, I sincerely acknowledge the profound benefits that AI has brought. Also, I am concerned about the possible scenarios in the future: if AI were to take over my role, it would definitely compel me to continuously enhance and further develop myself.
In conclusion, both perspectives are worth considering. More importantly, every individual in modern society, regardless of profession or career, should view it as a powerful motivation to adapt to the ongoing changes of the era.
