Band 5+: The care of old people is a growing problem. Some say the government should care for old people. Others say that it is the family's responsibility. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

It has become increasingly common for some people to argue that the care of old humans is a common issue between government and family. I agree with the latter view due to being responsible to their parents and having much information about them.

On the one hand, there are clear arguments that it is the government’s responsibility. One of the main reasons is that nursing homes and retirement homes are structured to provide the right support and care. This is because they live here when they are separated from their families. Many conditions have been created for them to live there. As a result, they hang out with peers and spend time productively. Another reason is that elderly people have paid taxes which should be used for their care. This means that they have saved money for their old age while working and they can cover their expenses.

On the other hand, I agree with the viewpoint that their children are changeable to their parents for providing them with better future. Firstly, I believe that grandparents have looked after their child in the past, now the children should look after them. Parents work a lot to ensure a good life for their young people and some lose their health. They work hard for their young generation to eat, drink, dress and inhabit well. Secondly, I also feel that the elderly should be surrounded by familiar objects and individuals. They miss their children, grandchildren and other family members very much. Therefore, it is nice that they are always with their families.

In conclusion, although the government ought to equip old humans with better life due to availability of many nursing homes and prepayment, however, I believe that their families can only accommodate with finer lives by being accountable and knowing a lot about them.
