There is a common belief that the Internet has more disadvantages when it is used as an information source than benefits, which is held by a significant number of individuals. I completely disagree with this notion because the Internet provides valuable information to all individuals around the globe.
On the one hand, others believe that it has more influential drawbacks than its advantages. The main reason might be the spread of false information. The news on social media apps on smart devices, such as Instagram and TikTok, may misrepresent real data and manipulate people into believing false information. For example, when school-aged children ask questions about essential topics in artificial intelligence, these AI bots can respond with false answers, which results in poor academic performance. While these concerns are valid, I believe that they happen occasionally and can be mitigated in the next five years with the rise of modern technology.
On the other hand, the profits of the Internet from giving information are extensive. To begin with, the Internet has a wide range of educational platforms that contain online courses and videos, which can equip young learners with a comprehensive knowledge base through constant learning and structure. For instance, a renowned app called Duolingo can enable people to acquire information about various languages by providing useful words and speaking practices to those who want to travel to other countries or future linguists. Moreover, individuals have access to news about their cities or nations, which allows them to keep informed even being abroad.
In conclusion, there is a popular belief that the Internet has more disadvantages when it is utilised as an information source than advantages. I strongly disapprove of this belief as it has effective benefits, such as education and news, which are more efficient than potential negative effects.
