The given table and pie charts compares how many research pupils studied in universities of Australia between 2001 and 2010.
As can be seen, the total number of Australian university students increased significantly throughout 9 years. Additionally, there were more and more foreign students in both genders went to universities in Australia.
Standing at 33,657 in 2001 initially, the number of Australian students rose slightly to 39,488 after 9 years. Regarding students studying abroad in this country, the figure experienced an exponential increase in 2010, which were nearly 3 times of 5,192 in 2001
In terms of the genders of students, local students dominated the chart throughout the period with 87% and 73% respectively. Specifically, there were 43% female and 44% male in 2001, whereas the corresponding figure were 35% and 38% in 2010. Noticeably, starting at 9% boys and 4% girls, the number of oversea students increased remarkably to 12% and 7% at last.
