In modern world, many people share very personal information on social media like Facebook or Instagram. This trend has both good and bad sides. I think the disadvantages are bigger than advantages, but I will discuss both views.
On the one hand, sharing personal details can help people feel connected. For example, if someone posts about their problems, friends can write comments to support them. This makes people feel less alone. Also, self-expression is important for young people. When they share their feelings or photos, they can show who they are. Sometimes, people can find others with same interests or problems, and this creates new friendships. So, connectivity is a positive thing.
However, there are many disadvantages. First, privacy is a big issue. When you share too much, strangers can see your life. For instance, if you post your location or daily routine, bad people can use this information. Second, mental well-being can be damaged. Many people compare their real life with perfect photos of others. This makes them feel sad or jealous. Also, if someone gets negative comments on their personal post, they might feel depressed. So, privacy loss and mental problems are serious.
In my opinion, the disadvantages outweigh the advantages because privacy and mental health are more important than likes or comments. Without good mental health, a person cannot enjoy connectivity. For example, a teenager who feels bad after seeing others’ posts will not benefit from social media. Therefore, the risks are too high.
To conclude, while sharing personal details can bring some support and connection, the dangers to privacy and mental well-being are greater. People should think carefully before posting private things online. I believe this trend is more harmful than helpful.
